FAMOUS PEOPLE

SELF-EVALUATION
What I consider my main achievement is the discovery of a variety of tools and sites, all of them with multiple ideas to help teachers and students. And the best thing is that through all these digital and media tools they can be very creative and evidence their own learning. With the blogs and wikis they can prove their ability to speak, listen, read, write and be proud of it. They are free to revise and correct any time they wish. So I thank Maria Elena Delgado for opening this box of surprises. I HAVE A LOT TO LEARN.

PORTFOLIO ASESSMENT
I think a blog and also a wiki can be used as excellent tools to implement Portfolio Asessment. A good example is this course: we can evaluate our own and our peers blogs, and revise the blogs whenever, wherever on line and as many times as we wish.
A portfolio is a digital tool where students can collect and then revise their best works. It measures and provides evidence of the individual works and document learning by focusing on product and process, where they incorporate and use the 4 language skills.
There are some advantages of a portfolio assessment vs traditional forms, for example: the portfolio measures student's ability over time and captures many facets of language learning performance; the assessment is embedded in instruction and involves student’s own assessment; students learn how to take responsibility, and it’s done by teacher and student, so they are aware of criteria. AND I AM SURE LEARNERS FEEL THEY ARE USING LANGUAGE.
For teachers who are not familiar with portfolios the suggestion is to have students collect everything they do in a folder. Later, they work on portfolios revising, adding self-assessments, annotating and organizing. If it is in the computer, it’s easier, because the students work on their portfolios at any time. At the end, they will have learned how to set goals by themselves.
